Three Kings 33mm charcoal briquettes are the burning medium that loose resin, bakhoor, and dried herbs require. They are built for quick, easy ignition — a simple small-flamed lighter is enough to start one sparking — and they burn smoothly without adding any scent of their own.

That last point is the whole specification. A charcoal that contributes flavor competes with whatever is burning on top of it, which defeats the purpose when the material is a resin worth smelling in its own right. These stay out of the way and let the chosen aromatic take the room.

The box holds ten packs of ten, a hundred briquettes in total, which is an ample supply rather than a sample. They come in sealed rolls for a practical reason: charcoal takes up moisture from the air, and a damp briquette is the single commonest cause of one that will not light or dies halfway through a burn.

To use one, pick it up with tongs rather than your fingers, touch a flame to one edge until it sparks and the glow spreads across the face, then set it in a heat-safe burner or a dish of sand and give it a minute or two to ash over before adding resin. Browse what to burn on it in our Resin Incense collection.

These get very hot very quickly, and they stay hot long after they stop glowing visibly, which is worth taking seriously. Tongs rather than fingers, a proper burner or sand rather than a plate, a stable non-flammable surface, and never unattended.

This is equipment rather than incense, and it carries no fragrance at all on its own. For the resins, granules, and blends it is designed to carry, see the resin collection above, and the wider Incense collection for sticks and cones that need nothing but a holder.
