Grape seed oil is one of the lightest, most skin-compatible carrier oils available — a byproduct of winemaking that turns out to be genuinely useful on skin. Light, virtually odorless, and cold-pressed, it absorbs quickly and leaves no greasy residue.
Its high linoleic acid content makes it one of the more biocompatible skin oils — it nourishes without clogging pores, which is why it's a favorite for oily, combination, and acne-prone skin types.
As a carrier for essential oil blends, it's nearly ideal: light enough not to alter fragrance, and absorbent enough to deliver a blend efficiently. It also works well on its own as a lightweight hair treatment, conditioning without weighing hair down.
For topical use, keep away from eyes and patch test first if you have a known grape or wine sensitivity. Store in a cool, dark place and use within about 12 months of opening.
