HEM Copal Incense Sticks carry a rich, resinous fragrance, eight sticks to a pack at about 8 g in total.

Copal is worth knowing properly. The word comes from the Nahuatl copalli, and the resins it names — tapped mostly from Bursera and Protium trees — have been burned in Mesoamerican ceremony for a very long time, through Maya and Aztec practice and into the present day in communities across Mexico and Central America. It is not a historical curiosity; it is in use now.

As a fragrance it sits in the same family as frankincense: bright, clean, faintly piney and lifting, quite unlike the heavy sweetness people often expect from a resin. Burned as a stick it is gentler than raw resin on charcoal, which is what most ceremonial use involves.

That difference matters enough to say outright. Burning copal in ceremony is a living practice belonging to the communities who hold it, and a manufactured incense stick is not that. We report the practice out of respect rather than borrowing it as a selling point.

The source listing also links copal with the crown chakra and with inner calm. Those are matters of belief, sincerely held, and we will not restate them as things the smoke does. More of the range sits in our Hem Incense Sticks collection.

No burn time is printed on this listing, so we do not quote one, and no holder is included. Set a fire-safe holder on a stable, heat-resistant surface before lighting, burn in a ventilated room away from drafts, children and pets, and let the ash cool fully before it is cleared. More of the category sits in our Incense Sticks collection.
