Black seed oil is cold-pressed and unrefined from Nigella sativa (black seed, or black cumin) into a light-to-medium oil with a rich, warm, nutty aroma and a deep golden-to-amber color. It's naturally rich in fatty acids, vitamins, and trace minerals.
It absorbs well without heaviness, and many people use it as a daily face or body oil, an addition to bathwater, or a booster mixed into lotions, creams, and soaps. Its warm, distinctly nutty aroma can be softened by blending with a more neutral carrier like jojoba or grape seed.
It also works well as a carrier base for essential oil blends, at roughly 1% dilution for the face or 2–3% for the body.
Its rich, warm aroma is part of the appeal for many users, but it is also the main reason people choose to dilute it — even a small amount mixed into a lighter oil like jojoba or grape seed carries the scent and the fatty acid profile through a larger volume, which is useful when adding it to lotions, creams, or soap batches without overwhelming the finished product.
For daily face or body use, a few drops massaged into clean skin is typically enough, and the oil absorbs without leaving a heavy film. Keep the bottle tightly closed and stored away from direct heat or sunlight between uses to help protect its color, aroma, and fatty acid content over time.
