Castor oil is cold-pressed from Ricinus communis seeds into a rich, thick oil with a mild, earthy aroma and a clear-to-pale-yellow color. It's defined by its signature ricinoleic acid content — a fatty acid found in very few other plant oils — alongside oleic and linoleic acids and natural vitamin E.
Its naturally thick texture creates a breathable film over the skin's surface, which many people find useful for very dry, rough, or reactive areas like heels and elbows. Many also massage a small amount onto scars or stretch mark areas as part of a regular routine — we describe that as a traditional, common use rather than a guaranteed cosmetic outcome, and results vary from person to person.
Because of its thickness, it's often blended 1:1 with a lighter carrier oil like jojoba for easier application, or added to essential oil blends at roughly 1% for the face or 2–3% for the body.
For external use only. Avoid use if allergic to castor, patch test first, avoid contact with eyes, and consult a healthcare provider before use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
