Grape seed oil is cold-pressed from Vitis vinifera seeds into an ultra-light, fast-absorbing oil with a very mild aroma and a pale green-to-golden color. It's naturally rich in linoleic acid and antioxidants including vitamin E.
It's non-comedogenic — meaning it has a low tendency to clog pores — and absorbs so quickly that it leaves virtually no trace of oil behind. Many people use it as a daily face and body oil, a massage base, or a lightweight addition to lotion.
It also works well as a carrier base for essential oil blends, at roughly 1% dilution for the face or 2–3% for the body.
Its ultra-light, almost weightless finish is part of why it's a popular pick for people who find richer oils like olive or macadamia too heavy for daily face use, and it's an easy oil to layer under sunscreen or makeup since it absorbs so quickly. Stirred into an unscented lotion a few drops at a time, it can add a touch of extra moisture without changing the lotion's texture, and its very mild scent means it won't clash with a fragrance you're already using.
Store the bottle tightly capped in a cool, dark place away from direct heat and sunlight to help protect its linoleic acid and vitamin E content, both of which are more sensitive to oxidation than the fatty acids found in heavier, more stable oils. A slight darkening of its pale green-to-golden color over time is a normal part of the oil aging, and using it within a reasonable timeframe after opening helps preserve its lightest, freshest texture.
For external use only. Patch test first if you have a known grape allergy, avoid contact with eyes, and consult a healthcare provider before use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
