Brass ages differently than plated metal — it develops a soft patina with handling rather than flaking or dulling — and the Pentacle Brass Candle Snuffer is built from solid brass rather than a brass-finished base metal, with an 11 in handle that keeps a hand a full arm's length from any flame it puts out. A Pentacle emblem marks the head of the tool.

The working end is a 2 1/4 in cone set on a swivel, which lets the cone angle itself slightly to meet a wick head-on even when the candle underneath it is not perfectly centered on the handle's approach. That swivel action reduces the chance of nudging the candle or splashing wax that a rigid, fixed cone can cause when the angle is even slightly off.

Because the snuffer works by cutting off a flame's air supply rather than blowing it out, it avoids sending a curl of smoke and the smell of a blown-out wick across the room — useful during a quiet ritual moment, a meditation session, or simply an evening at home where that smell is unwelcome. The long handle and swivel cone together make the motion easy to control even at full extension.

Solid brass holds up to frequent handling better than a thinner plated finish, and it takes on a gentler shine with use rather than showing wear as scratches. Left out on an altar between uses, it functions as its own small decorative accent rather than a tool that needs to be tucked away, and the weight of solid brass gives it a steadier, more deliberate feel in hand than a lighter, hollow alternative.

For candles sized to this snuffer's reach and other pentacle-marked altar pieces, see the Candles collection, or the broader Spiritual Products collection.
