Sree Vani Golden India Rose Backflow Incense Cones cascade a mesmerizing mist through a burner while a soft rose aura settles into the room. Ten cones come to a box, pressed on an incense base of wood powder and plant resins carrying the rose fragrance.

The fragrance is described as delicate and enduring, and both halves of that matter. Plenty of rose incense opens loudly and thins out badly by the halfway point; a delicate rose that holds its character to the end of the cone is the more useful thing to own, even though it makes less of a first impression.

Rose is also unusually good at lifting a room that has been shut up. A refined floral covers stale odors without the obvious trace an air freshener leaves behind, so the room reads as aired rather than as sprayed. See the range in our Backflow Incense Cones collection.

The base does the mechanical work. Wood powder and plant resins burn slowly and evenly enough to keep the smoke cool, and cool smoke is dense smoke, which is the whole reason it falls through the burner instead of rising off the top of the cone the way ordinary incense smoke does.

Use a dedicated backflow burner with the cone's hollow base aligned over the outlet hole, light the tip until it glows, then gently blow the flame out to start the flow. Keep it on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from drafts for a steady waterfall rather than an intermittent one.

The dual-use design means a standard burner works too, giving the rose without the cascade. For rose in stick and standard cone form, including hand-rolled masala versions, see our Incense collection.
