Juniper berry smells exactly like what it is — cold, clean mountain air carrying the sharp, resinous character of juniper berries through a fresh conifer landscape. Steam-distilled from the berries, it arrives undiluted and single-botanical.
Diffused alone, it creates a clean, forest-fresh atmosphere; blended with cypress and cedarwood it's a grounding woodland combination, or with lemon and rosemary for something more invigorating.
Juniper berry has a long traditional use in invigorating massage blends, applied with firm, upward strokes on the legs and abdomen, and pairs well with frankincense for a focused meditation atmosphere.
Not recommended during pregnancy, since its diuretic and stimulating properties are contraindicated; those with kidney disease should use with caution and avoid topical use over the kidney area. As with any essential oil, dilute before skin contact and patch test first.
