Wintergreen is one of the most intensely characterful minty oils — sharp, sweet, and candy-mint in aroma, with the same warming quality familiar from muscle rubs and sports treatments. Steam-distilled, it arrives undiluted and single-botanical.
Diffused sparingly in a well-ventilated space, it creates a sharp, invigorating atmosphere.
Wintergreen is almost entirely methyl salicylate, the compound behind its warming character — it's a longtime favorite for post-exercise, diluted muscle massage, but it requires careful, informed handling: this is one of the more potent oils in the collection.
Dilute very heavily before any skin use (no more than 1–2%), and never use undiluted. Not recommended during pregnancy, for children under 12, or alongside blood-thinning medication, since methyl salicylate has salicylate activity similar to aspirin.
