A: It takes approximately 3,000 to 5,000 kilograms of rose petals — picked by hand at dawn when the aroma is at its peak — to produce a single kilogram of rose otto. That extraction cost is built into every bottle, which is precisely why genuine rose smells so profoundly different from synthetic rose: you are smelling hundreds of aromatic compounds working together, not a single molecule imitating one of them.

A: Rose can be extracted by steam distillation (rose otto) or solvent extraction (rose absolute). Both are genuine; rose absolute tends to have a fuller, more complete aroma. AKARZ Rose is carefully extracted to deliver the deepest, richest rose aroma possible from Rosa damascena. For diffusing, both forms work beautifully — the absolute simply requires slightly less per application.
