Popular calming diffuser choice. Shares linalyl acetate and linalool with lavender, part of why it has a similarly settling character.

Classic monthly-ritual massage. A longtime favorite for a comforting abdominal or lower-back massage, once diluted.

Skin-balancing skincare oil. Diluted in carrier oil, a valued ingredient in natural skincare formulations.

In a diffuser. 3–4 drops alone, or blend 3 drops clary sage with 2 drops lavender and 1 drop geranium for a calming combination.

For massage. Dilute 3 drops in a tablespoon of carrier oil for an abdominal, lower-back, or full-body relaxation massage.

For a bath. Mix 4–5 drops with a tablespoon of carrier oil and add to warm bathwater.

For skincare. Add 1–2 drops per teaspoon of carrier oil (jojoba or rosehip) and apply to cleansed skin.

One ingredient. 100% Clary Sage (Salvia sclarea) flower and leaf oil — nothing blended in.

Cool, dark, tightly capped. Heat and daylight age the oil fastest — store the bottle upright, away from direct sun.

General guide. Stored properly, most single-botanical oils hold their character for a year or more; treat that as guidance and follow any date on the bottle first.

Mind what it sits on. Undiluted oil can mark polished or painted surfaces — decant over something wipeable.

Dilute before skin contact. Always mix into a carrier oil before applying to skin — do not apply undiluted.

Patch test first. Test a small area of skin before full application, especially with sensitive skin.

Not recommended during pregnancy. Clary sage has estrogenic properties and should be avoided during pregnancy.

Care with alcohol. Avoid combining clary sage use with alcohol, as the combination can intensify its calming effect.

Caution: For external use only. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Avoid contact with eyes, broken skin, and sensitive areas. Always dilute before skin application.
