Twelve bottles is the point at which a set stops being a sampler and becomes a collection. This one arrives in a black presentation box with the bottles seated in a tray: rose, frankincense, grapefruit, cedarwood, cinnamon, lemon, tea tree, sweet orange, lavender, mint, lemongrass and eucalyptus, 10ml of each.

The range matters more than the count. Twelve oils drawn from the same corner of the spectrum would be a poor set, however many bottles were in the box. These cover all three registers a blend is built from — lemon, grapefruit, sweet orange, mint and lemongrass at the bright top; lavender, rose, cinnamon and eucalyptus through the middle; cedarwood and frankincense at the base, where a blend needs weight to stop it evaporating within the hour. Tea tree sits slightly apart as the practical one.

Three to five drops per 100ml of water scents a room in any of the machines in our humidifier and diffuser range, and the same bottles work in a tealight oil burner. Diluted into a carrier at 1–2% they become body and massage blends; at craft rates they go into candles, melts and soap.

Each bottle holds roughly two hundred drops, so the box as a whole runs to around two thousand four hundred — enough to work through every scent properly and still have most of them left. As a gift it removes the hardest part of buying fragrance for someone else, which is guessing which single scent they would have chosen.

FAQs

Q: What is in the box?
A: Twelve 10ml bottles, one of each scent — rose, frankincense, grapefruit, cedarwood, cinnamon, lemon, tea tree, sweet orange, lavender, mint, lemongrass and eucalyptus — seated in a tray inside a black presentation box.

Q: Is this a good set for blending, or just for diffusing one at a time?
A: Both, and the base notes are why. Cheaper sets tend to be all citrus and mint because those oils cost least, which means blends made from them disappear within the hour. Including cedarwood and frankincense gives you something to anchor a blend with.

Q: How many drops should I use?
A: Three to five drops per 100ml of water in a diffuser. For a blend, three parts top note to two parts middle to one part base is a workable ratio — for example three drops sweet orange, two lavender, one cedarwood.

Q: Can I use them on skin?
A: Only diluted. Body use is 1–2% — roughly 6 to 12 drops per 30ml of carrier oil; halve that for face or sensitive skin. Patch test first. Cinnamon and lemongrass are more irritant than the rest and want lower dilutions, and the citrus oils can make skin more sun-reactive for the rest of the day.

Q: How long will the set last?
A: Roughly 20 drops is 1ml, so each bottle holds about 200 drops and the box around 2,400 — enough to work through every scent properly. Keep them in the tray, upright, somewhere cool and dark; citrus oils age fastest, woods and resins slowest.
