1. Set it down. Place the set on a flat, heat-resistant surface away from flammable material.

2. Choose your format's spot. Rest a stick, Tibetan, or Japanese incense in the wire cradle; set a cone in its designated slot; or lay a smudge stick across the wood body.

3. Light and let it settle. Light the tip, let the flame die to an ember, and leave it to smolder undisturbed.

4. Store spares in the compartment. Keep unused incense in the built-in compartment so it stays organized between sessions.

5. Clean once cooled. Once fully cooled, wipe ash from the wire cradle and wood surface with a soft, dry cloth.

Materials. A two-piece wood body fitted with metal wire elements and a celestial sun-and-moon carving.
