An oil, not an alcohol spray. Alcohol carries a fragrance up and out, then evaporates and takes the sharpest part of the opening with it. An oil skips that stage entirely — what you smell in the first minute is close to what you will smell in the third hour, warmed by your own skin rather than thrown into the air.

Applied exactly where you want it. A roller lands on skin, not on a shirt collar, a wool coat or the person standing next to you. It also means no wasted product: every drop that leaves the bottle is on you.

Cheap enough to own several. The usual argument against a fragrance wardrobe is cost, and at this end of the market it disappears. A bright citrus for the office, something sweet for the evening and a soft musk for the days you want to be understated still come to less together than one department-store bottle.

Layers with what you already use. Fragrance holds better on skin that is not dry, so it works well applied over a plain moisturiser or one of the unscented oils in our Body Oil collection.

Rolls on, no spray. The roller puts fragrance exactly where you want it and nowhere else — no cloud in the hallway, nothing landing on a collar or a scarf, and no one else in the room made to share it. It is the difference between wearing a scent and broadcasting one.

Sits close to skin. An oil has none of the alcohol lift that makes a spray loud for ten minutes and then quiet. It warms with your own skin and stays within arm's reach of you, which is what makes it wearable in an office, on a commute, or anywhere a spray would be too much.

Pocket and bag size. Ten millilitres in a sealed roller travels without the leak risk of a spray top, fits a coat pocket or a small bag, and is well under the limit for hand luggage. A top-up mid-afternoon takes five seconds.

Twenty-five scents to wear. Sweet gourmands, clean linens, florals and soft musks, one scent per bottle. At this price fragrance stops being a single signature you commit to for years and becomes something you choose to suit the day.

Patch test first. Roll a little onto the inside of your elbow and leave it a day before wearing it properly. This matters with any new fragrance, and more if your skin reacts easily.

Go for the warm spots. Inside the wrists, the base of the throat, behind the ears, the inside of the elbows. These run warmer than the skin around them, which lifts the scent gently through the day instead of all at once.

Do not rub it in. Rubbing your wrists together is the most common mistake with any perfume — the friction and heat break up the lightest notes and flatten the opening. Apply and leave it to settle.

Moisturise first if your skin is dry. Dry skin drinks fragrance and lets it go early. A plain unscented moisturiser or body oil underneath gives the scent something to hold onto and noticeably lengthens the wear.

Top up rather than over-apply. Oil perfumes sit closer than sprays by design, so a light reapplication in the afternoon is normal rather than a sign the scent has failed. Two passes of the roller is usually plenty.

A fragrance oil, not an essential oil. These are composed aromatic blends rather than single-botanical distillates — which is why scents like fresh linen, bubble gum and baby powder can exist at all, since no plant produces them.

Composition varies by scent. Each of the twenty-five options is its own formulation. How one behaves on your skin tells you nothing reliable about how another will.

Allergen detail for skin wear. Because this goes onto skin rather than into a machine, ingredient information matters more. If you have reactive skin or a known fragrance allergy, ask before ordering and we will check what the supplier holds for that specific scent — and patch test in any case.

Cool, dark and closed. Heat and daylight age a fragrance faster than time does. A drawer or a bag is kinder to it than a sunny windowsill or a bathroom shelf above a hot shower.

Keep the roller ball clean. A roller touches skin, so it picks up moisturiser, make-up and sunscreen and carries them back into the bottle. Wipe the ball with a tissue every so often, and let skincare absorb before you apply.

Top notes fade first. The bright opening of a scent goes before the body of it does, so an older bottle usually smells flatter rather than wrong. Citrus-led scents show this soonest.

General guide. Stored properly, oil-based fragrances of this type typically hold their character for a year or two. Treat that as guidance rather than a guarantee, and follow any date printed on the bottle in preference to it.

Patch test before the first wear. Apply a little to the inside of the elbow and wait a day. Fragrance sensitivity can build over time as well as show up immediately, so this is worth doing with every new scent, not just the first.

Intact skin only. Keep it away from eyes, lips and mucous membranes, and off broken, irritated or freshly shaved skin, where anything fragranced will sting and absorb differently.

Stop if your skin objects. Redness, itching or small bumps mean discontinue — wash the area with soap and water and do not persist with that scent. Seek medical advice if a reaction does not settle.

Strong sun. Some fragrance materials react with UV. If you are heading into a full day of sun, apply where clothing covers rather than onto exposed wrists and neck.

Not for children, pets or swallowing. Store out of reach, do not apply it to children's skin or to an animal, and do not ingest it. Keep the bottle away from heat and direct sunlight.
