1. Find its spot. Set the tree on a flat, heat-resistant, sheltered surface away from wind and flammable material.

2. Load the stump holder. Press an incense cone into the holder, or insert a stick into the hole at its center.

3. Light and let it settle. Light the tip, let the flame die to an ember, and leave it undisturbed to smolder.

4. Let ash collect in the stump. Ash and residue fall into the stump piece rather than onto the figure or the surface below.

5. Clean once cooled. Once everything has cooled, lift the stump out and wipe away ash and residue with a soft, dry cloth.
