Sized for use, not for sampling. Most essential oil online is sold in sampler sizes, which suit trying a scent and little else. If you already know which oils you reach for, the 100ml bottle is the one that matches the habit — particularly for candle, soap and bath makers working in batches.

Priced by the botanical, not averaged. Rose costs several times what sweet orange does, because the raw materials genuinely differ — rose and frankincense are expensive to produce and citrus is not. The price follows the plant rather than being flattened into one figure across the range.

Thirty-one botanicals. Every bottle holds one plant's oil rather than a house blend, which means the proportions are yours to decide. A pre-mixed bottle you only half-like can never be corrected. A shelf of singles can.

The working size. A 10ml bottle is a sample — diffusing most evenings, or one batch of candles, goes through it in a fortnight. At 100ml the bottle stops being something you ration and becomes something you simply use.

Amber glass, real dropper. Daylight breaks aromatic compounds down, so the dark glass is doing genuine work on the shelf. The dropper matters just as much: counted drops make a blend repeatable, where pouring makes every batch a guess.

Built for blending. The range spans all three registers a blend needs — citrus and herbs on top, florals and spices through the middle, and woods and resins like cedarwood, vetiver, patchouli and frankincense at the base to stop the whole thing evaporating in twenty minutes.

In a diffuser. Start at five to ten drops per 100ml of water and adjust from there. Only use a humidifier that states it is essential-oil compatible, and clean the reservoir regularly — residue from an earlier oil dulls the next one.

On skin, always diluted. Never apply undiluted. For body use, 1–2% is the normal range — roughly 6 to 12 drops per 30ml of carrier oil. For the face or sensitive skin, halve it to 0.5–1%, about 3 to 6 drops per 30ml. Patch test a new oil on a small area first.

In the bath. Premix five to ten drops into a tablespoon of carrier oil or a dispersant before it goes near the water. Neat oil floats on the surface and meets skin at full strength, which is how bath irritation usually happens.

In candles, melts and soap. Follow the usage rate your wax or soap base specifies rather than a general figure, and test a small batch before committing a full run — scent throw varies more between bases than between oils.

Measuring. Twenty drops is roughly one millilitre, which makes a 100ml bottle about two thousand drops — useful when scaling a recipe up from a tested sample.

One botanical per bottle. Each variant is the essential oil of the plant named on the label, bottled on its own rather than blended with others. Choosing Lavender gets you lavender oil, not a lavender-led mixture.

Composition differs by variant. Rose, tea tree and frankincense are chemically unalike, so nothing said about one carries over to another — including how each behaves on skin, in wax, or in sunlight.

Cool, dark, capped, upright. The amber glass handles daylight; you handle the rest. Keep the cap tight between uses, store the bottle standing up so the oil is not sitting against the dropper insert, and keep it away from radiators, hobs and sunny sills.

Citrus ages fastest, woods and resins slowest. Lemon, sweet orange, grapefruit and bergamot oxidise noticeably sooner than cedarwood, vetiver, patchouli, frankincense or myrrh, several of which improve with a little age. Buy the citrus oils in the quantity you will actually use.

General guide. The supplier quotes a shelf life of up to three years. Treat that as a best case for the most stable oils rather than a figure that applies evenly across all thirty-one — a citrus oil opened and used occasionally will be past its best well before then. Any date printed on the bottle takes precedence.

Trust your nose. An oxidised oil smells flat, sharp or faintly of turpentine where it used to smell bright. Oxidised citrus oils are also more likely to irritate skin, so retire them from topical blends first even if they still work in a diffuser.

Never apply neat, never swallow. These are concentrated plant extracts. Dilute in a carrier oil before any skin contact, patch test a new oil on a small area, keep it away from eyes and mucous membranes, and do not take it internally.

Citrus oils and sunlight. Bergamot, lemon and grapefruit can make skin more reactive to UV. If you have applied them, keep that skin out of the sun and off sunbeds for the rest of the day. Bergamot labelled FCF or bergapten-free avoids this.

Pregnancy, medical care and children. Several oils in this range — clary sage and rosemary among them — are generally avoided during pregnancy. If you are pregnant, nursing, under medical care, or using these around young children, speak to a healthcare professional before you start, and diffuse at a lower drop count around children.

Pets, and cats in particular. Cats process some aromatic compounds poorly, and tea tree, citrus and peppermint are the ones most often flagged. Never apply any of these to an animal, diffuse only in rooms a pet can leave freely, and stop if you see drooling, unsteadiness or breathing changes.

Store out of reach and away from flame. Keep bottles where children and pets cannot reach them, and away from heat and open flame. Wipe spills promptly — undiluted oil can mark polished, painted and plastic surfaces.
