Cool, dark, tightly capped. Heat and daylight age these oils fastest — store the bottles upright, away from direct sun.

Citrus and florals soften soonest. Sweet orange, rose and jasmine are more delicate than the woodier notes like sandalwood and patchouli.

General guide. Stored properly, a bottle typically holds its character for a year or more; treat that as guidance and follow any date on the bottle first.

Mind what it sits on. Undiluted oil can mark polished or painted surfaces — decant over something wipeable.

Dilute before skin contact. These are sold undiluted — mix into a carrier oil before any skin use, and patch-test first.

Away from eyes, never swallowed. Keep clear of eyes and mucous membranes; rinse with plenty of water and seek advice if irritation persists.

Out of reach of children and pets. Store where it cannot be reached, and site any burner or diffuser where it cannot be knocked over.

Twenty separate formulations. Introduce new scents one at a time if you or a household member has known sensitivities.
