In a diffuser or burner. 3–5 drops of any single oil in the water reservoir; the included droppers make measuring simple.

In a carrier-oil blend. 1–5 drops per 5ml of carrier oil for massage; patch test any botanical new to you before wider use.

In candle or soap making. 6–10% of wax weight, or 3–5% of oil weight in cold-process soap.

Building a blend. Sandalwood, cedarwood and patchouli sit underneath as base notes; rosemary, clary sage and geranium sit through the middle; citronella, lemon and bergamot sit on top.

Different extraction profiles. Citrus notes are typically cold-pressed; the florals, resins and woods are steam distilled — how one performs doesn't predict another.

Cool, dark, capped, upright. Heat and daylight age these oils fastest — store the bottles standing away from direct sun.

Citrus fades quickest. Lemon, bergamot and grapefruit are more volatile and soften sooner than resins like frankincense or myrrh.

General guide. Stored properly, most of this range typically holds its character for a year or more; treat that as guidance and follow any date on the bottle first.

Mind what it sits on. Undiluted oil can mark polished or painted surfaces — decant over something wipeable.

Dilute before skin contact. These are concentrated oils; dilute in a carrier oil before applying to skin, and patch test each one individually.

Citrus notes are phototoxic. Bergamot, lemon and grapefruit can be phototoxic — keep them off skin that will see direct sun within twelve hours.

Away from eyes, never swallowed. Keep clear of eyes and mucous membranes; rinse with plenty of water and seek advice if irritation persists.

Children, pregnancy and pets. Oregano, basil and clary sage are among those most often flagged for caution in pregnancy and around young children — check before use, and diffuse briefly in a room a pet can leave freely.
