A shortlist beats a catalogue. Twenty-four profiles is the right list if you are hunting a specific hotel you remember. Fifteen is the right list if you want to choose something good this week and get on with it.

Somewhere to go that isn't a hotel. Not every space wants to smell like a lobby. Ice Age gives a clinic, studio or office a clean signature without borrowing anyone's hospitality character.

Priced honestly per profile. The fifteen are separate formulations and some cost more to compose. You pay for the one you chose rather than an average across the range.

The machines to run it in. Cold-air and nebulising units suit it best. The humidifier and diffuser range sets out what each machine accepts, which is worth checking before the first fill.

Ice Age, which is not a hotel. Cold, clean and mineral — it reads like still air rather than any property's lobby. It is the only profile in the hotel range with nothing to compare it to, and for a lot of spaces it is the right answer.

Fifteen, not twenty-four. A shorter list on purpose: Marriott, Sheraton, Westin, Holiday Inn, InterContinental, Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton, Kempinski, Shangri-La, Sofitel, Pullman, Grand Hyatt, Vienna and New Hilton. These are the names people ask for.

Metered by the machine. Poured neat into a cold-air or nebulising unit, the oil is released at a rate the machine controls. That is what holds a reception at one level all day rather than the peaks and gaps of anything sprayed.

Sealed aluminium. Daylight ages an aroma oil faster than anything else and metal admits none of it. For a bottle that sits in a cupboard between refills, that matters more than how it looks on a shelf.

Neat into the reservoir. Cold-air and nebulising scent machines take this oil undiluted. Fill to the level your unit's manual specifies rather than a fixed measure — reservoir capacities differ widely between machines.

Check before using it in water. Ultrasonic diffusers vary: some manufacturers permit aroma oil in the tank, others specify essential oil only. Where it is allowed, three to ten drops per 100ml of water is the usual range.

Trial it where it will live. Run a profile in the actual room for several days before committing. Hard surfaces and air conditioning change how a scent behaves, and something that works in a small office can be overwhelming in a corridor.

Calibrate for the person walking in. Start at the lowest useful output and raise it over several days. Staff stop registering a scent that visitors still notice, so the level that feels right at the desk is usually too strong at the door.

Run dry before you switch. Empty and wipe the reservoir when changing profiles. Residue from the last oil mixes into the next and muddies both — almost always the reason a new scent smells wrong on its first day.

A composed aroma blend. Each profile is a formulated fragrance built to reproduce a particular atmosphere consistently from batch to batch, rather than a single-botanical distillate.

Fifteen separate formulations. Nothing established about one carries over to another — not how strongly it projects, not how it behaves in a particular machine. Treat a new profile as a new product.

Documentation for commercial use. If you are scenting a workplace, clinic, gym or other public space, ask before ordering and we will check what allergen or safety data the supplier holds for that profile. Anywhere staff spend full shifts in the scent, that is worth having on file.

The bottle does half the work. Sealed aluminium keeps daylight off the oil completely. What is left to you is heat and air — store it cool and keep the cap tight between fills.

Not beside the machine. Stock tends to end up wherever there is space, which is often a warm cupboard near equipment. A cool stockroom shelf is meaningfully better for anything that will sit for months.

General guide. Aroma oils of this type typically hold their character for around two years unopened when stored properly. Treat that as guidance, and follow any batch or date information on the bottle in preference to it.

Judge it by the scent. An aged oil loses its opening lift first and reads flatter through a machine. If a familiar profile suddenly seems weaker, check the oil before turning the output up.

Scenting equipment only. This is an ambient aroma oil for diffuser and scent-machine reservoirs. It is not a skincare or massage product and not food — do not apply it to skin or swallow it.

Ventilate, and keep the level moderate. Scent a space with some air movement rather than a sealed one, and remember staff experience it for far longer than visitors do. Stop if anyone reports headaches or irritation.

Decant carefully. Fill over a surface you can wipe. Concentrated aroma oil marks polished, painted and plastic finishes, and it is easier to prevent a spill than to clean one.

Away from heat, flame and reach. Store capped and cool, clear of heat sources and naked flame, and out of reach of children and pets.

Only in machines rated for it. Putting aroma oil into a unit specified for water alone can damage it and usually voids the warranty. Check the manual before the first fill.
