These Palo Santo Smudge Sticks are cut, incense-grade Palo Santo from naturally fallen Peruvian trees, sold by weight at approximately 2 ounces per bag.

Light one end. Hold a flame to one end of the stick for 20-30 seconds until it catches.

Blow out the flame. Blow out the flame gently and let the wood smolder, releasing its aromatic smoke.

Rest it in a holder. Set it in a heat-safe dish or holder rather than holding it for the whole session.

Extinguish and reuse. Press the smoldering end into sand or a fireproof dish to put it out fully - real Palo Santo wood can typically be relit several times across multiple sessions rather than burning down in one go.

Unlike a fragranced masala stick, raw Palo Santo wood holds its natural oils for a very long time - well beyond the general 12-24 month guidance we give for other incense - though this is general guidance rather than a supplier-stated date, since no expiration date is printed on the packaging.

Never leave burning wood unattended. Light it over a fire-safe surface, rest it in a heat-safe holder or dish on a stable, non-flammable surface, well away from curtains and anything else flammable, and keep it out of reach of children and pets. Burn in a well-ventilated room, and let it cool fully before storing it for reuse.
