Light the tip. Hold a flame to the tip of the cone for 15-20 seconds — dense dhoop takes a little longer to catch than a hollow cone.

Let it settle to an ember. Blow out the flame once the tip glows steadily and releases smoke.

Use a heat-rated burner. Stand the cone in a dedicated dhoop burner or a thick, heat-safe dish — the denser ember runs hotter than a standard cone.

Ventilate the room. Because dhoop releases more smoke, crack a window or door for the first few minutes of the burn.

Let it burn out fully. Allow the cone to burn down completely and cool before clearing the ash.
