1. Set up your burner. Use a heat-resistant incense burner with a layer of sand or ash, placed on a stable, fire-safe surface away from drafts.

2. Light with tongs. Hold the tablet with heat-resistant tongs or tweezers and light the edge until it sparks fully across the surface.

3. Wait for the glow. Let the tablet turn greyish and glow evenly, then place it in the burner before adding your resin or incense on top.

4. Add incense gradually. Add small amounts of resin, herbs, or powder at a time to avoid a heavy smoke surge.

5. Let it cool fully. Allow the spent tablet to burn out and cool completely before disposing of it in a metal, heat-safe container.

Shelf life. As a general guide, sealed tablets stay reliable for roughly 12–24 months. This is general guidance rather than a printed expiration date, since the manufacturer does not date-stamp individual tablets.

Buying the right amount. A roll of 10 suits a regular routine; if you burn incense only occasionally, consider the smaller 40mm roll size we also carry so tablets do not sit unused for too long.

Extreme heat. A lit charcoal tablet burns very hot and stays hot long after the glow fades. Always place it in a heatproof burner on a layer of sand or ash, never directly on wood, plastic, or fabric.

Handling. Use metal tongs or tweezers to light and position the tablet. Never touch a lit or recently-extinguished tablet with bare hands.

Ventilation and placement. Burn only in a well-ventilated room, on a stable, fire-safe surface, away from curtains, paper, and other flammable materials.

Children and pets. Keep burning tablets and the unlit roll well out of reach of children and pets at all times, and never leave a lit tablet unattended.
