Scents you cannot get any other way. Blueberry, guava, cantaloupe and sweet corn have no essential oil. Anyone selling you one is selling a composed fragrance under another name. We would rather say plainly what this is.

A different register from the usual set. If lavender and eucalyptus leave a room smelling like a clinic, this is the alternative — warm, sweet and domestic. It is the set to buy when the point is comfort rather than calm.

Small enough to be wrong about. Sweet corn is an unusual thing to put in a room, and you will not know whether you like it until it is in the air. Ten millilitres is enough to find out and cheap enough that it does not matter if the answer is no.

Something to run it in. This set is the oils alone. If a machine is needed too, the humidifier and diffuser range covers ultrasonic and cool-mist units, and the oil burners work on a tealight.

Six fruit scents. Orange, coconut, sweet corn, blueberry, guava and cantaloupe — a spread you will not assemble from an essential oil range, because four of those fruits yield nothing worth distilling. Composed fragrance is the only way they exist.

Warm, not herbal. Most starter sets lean spa — lavender, eucalyptus, tea tree. This one goes the other way: soft and edible, with the coconut and sweet corn giving creaminess, blueberry and guava a tart lift, and orange keeping it bright. It suits a kitchen or a bedroom far better than a treatment room.

Boxed and giftable. The bottles arrive seated in a printed box, so there is nothing to wrap. For anyone whose taste runs sweeter than the usual botanical set, it is a more thoughtful gift than another lavender.

Diffuser or craft. Three to five drops carry a room through a diffuser or a tealight burner, and the same bottles go into candles, wax melts and soap at craft rates. Fruit scents in particular hold up well in wax, where some florals turn thin.

In a diffuser. Three to five drops per 100ml of water. Check that your machine states it accepts fragrance oil — some water-based ultrasonic units are specified for essential oil only, and fragrance oil can leave residue in those.

In an oil burner. Fill the dish with water, add three to five drops, light the tealight underneath, and keep an eye on the water level so the dish cannot boil dry.

In candles and melts. 6–10% of total wax weight for candles, added at around 65–70°C and stirred for two minutes; up to about 10% for melts. Cure candles before judging the throw.

Mixing the six. Coconut and cantaloupe together make a passable piña-colada direction; blueberry with orange reads brighter and less sweet. Count in drops and write down what worked, because a good accident is impossible to repeat otherwise.

Measuring. Roughly twenty drops make a millilitre, so each 10ml bottle holds about two hundred drops — forty to sixty diffuser sessions.

Fragrance oil, not essential oil. These are composed aromatic blends. Blueberry, guava, cantaloupe and sweet corn cannot be distilled into essential oils at all, and coconut and orange behave differently as fragrance compositions than as extracts.

Composition varies by bottle. Each of the six is its own formulation, so behaviour in wax, soap or a water tank differs between them and nothing established for one carries over.

Documentation for resale. If you are making products to sell and need an IFRA certificate, allergen declaration or safety data sheet for one of these scents, ask before ordering so we can check what the supplier holds.

Keep them in the tray. The box holds the bottles upright and out of the light, which is most of what storage needs to do. Store it in a drawer or cupboard rather than on a windowsill or above a radiator.

Top notes fade first. The bright opening of a fruit scent goes before its body does, so an older bottle smells flatter rather than wrong. The orange will show it soonest; the coconut and sweet corn hold longest.

General guide. Stored properly, fragrance oils of this type typically hold their character for a year or two. Treat that as guidance rather than a guarantee, and follow any date printed on a bottle in preference to it.

Mind the surfaces. Undiluted fragrance oil can mark polished and painted finishes and soften some plastics. Fill over something wipeable and clean spills straight away.

Not a skin or food product. These smell edible and are not. Do not apply them neat to skin, do not add them to food or drink, and keep them away from eyes and mucous membranes.

Out of reach of children. Sweet, fruit-scented bottles are more tempting to a child than a herbal one. Store the box where it cannot be reached, and site any burner or diffuser out of the way.

Pets need an exit. Diffuse only in rooms an animal can leave freely, never apply these to a pet, and stop if you see drooling, unsteadiness or breathing changes.

A tealight burner is an open flame. Never leave one burning unattended or overnight, keep it on a heat-resistant surface away from curtains and paper, and keep water in the dish.

Only in compatible machines. Use in units whose manufacturer states they accept fragrance oil. Adding oil to a machine specified for water alone can damage it and usually voids the warranty.

Caution: For external use only. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Avoid contact with eyes, broken skin, and sensitive areas. These are fragrance oils for diffusers, burners and making rather than skincare or food products, despite the fruit scents.
