Light, then extinguish. Light the tip, let it glow for a few seconds, then blow out the flame.

Watch it settle. Smoke should sink and pool around the lotus petals; a still room gives the cleanest flow.

Brush clean when cool. Use a soft brush to clear soot from the carved grooves once the piece has fully cooled.

Open flame. A backflow cone burns with a small open flame while lighting — never leave a lit cone unattended, and extinguish it fully before leaving the room.

Placement. Use on a heat-resistant, stable surface away from curtains and other flammable materials, and out of reach of children and pets.

Handling. Allow the ceramic and any cone residue to cool completely before handling, and support the carved detailing when moving it.
