Shelf Life. As a general guideline, an unlit candle stored this way stays in good condition for roughly 12–24 months; this is general guidance rather than a supplier-stated figure, so treat it as an estimate.

Signs of Age. A faded color, an uneven surface, or a wick that has trouble staying lit are signs the candle has been stored too long or in poor conditions.

Before Lighting. Trim the wick to about 1/4 inch and check that the candle is on a stable, heat-resistant surface, well away from curtains, papers, and other flammable materials.

While Burning. Never leave the flame unattended, and keep it out of reach of children and pets at all times.

After Use. Extinguish the flame fully and let the wax cool completely before moving the candle or handling the jar.
